DRAWN TO LIFE IN FULL COLOR
As a creative, one of the things that drives me most is the ability to turn a blank canvas into something meaningful. There's something deeply satisfying about taking an idea that exists only in someone's imagination and bringing it to life through design. Every project is a new challenge, and that's exactly what keeps me inspired. In my online designer communities, we often ask each other, "What did you work on today?" My favorite response has always been, "I splashed around the color wheel several times." It's a playful way of saying I spent the day doing what I love—experimenting, creating, solving problems, and crafting visuals that tell a story and leave a lasting impression.
For years, I have been a radio disc jockey and have recently rekindled my love for broadcasting online. I worked at WMMT FM 88.7 in Whitesburg, KY, from 2001-2008. There, I hosted a Friday morning 'wake-up' show called 'Crossroads' and had a blast! During my time at the station, I also produced and created the “Switchback Radio Podcast,” the official podcast of the off-Broadway theatrical troupe Blue Man Group.
While doing podcasts and live FM radio, I founded an online radio station called “BounceRadio.net.” The concept was based on an actual radio platform, with rotating DJs and live on-air talent. Since 2007, the station no longer exists, but the friendships forged remain. Nowadays, I am a voice talent and on-air personality on many online social media platforms, predominantly on Twitch and PopXcast.
Originating from an Appalachian musical family and learning to play the piano at age 7, I gave my first public performance at age 12 with my southern gospel family. By age 16, I had appeared regularly on television at WLJC-TV in Beattyville, KY. My musical ability grew with exposure to culture and world music, and by age 21, I released my first solo album called "Simple Faith." Four albums later and with a digital license contract, my music can be found worldwide on Amazon, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, BandCamp, and Spotify.
